Sephy and Callum and best friends three years apart in age. Sephy is from a rich black family, the Crosses, and Callum comes from the total opposite, a poor white family, the noughts.
Callum's mother works for Sephy's mother. One day, Callum's mother was fired by Sephy's mother, and from then on their family's never got along. Three years later, the Crosses started accepting noughts into their schools, and Callum was accepted into the same school as Sephy, Heathcroft.
Callum was thrilled to tell Sephy about it at their usual meeting place, Sephy's private beach. But his mother was telling him it was a lot more dangerous than he thinks, and that many of the Crosses wanted them out. She said that now that he's in, he should definitely make sure to never give in. At the same time, the Liberation Militia (L.M. for short), is ready to start their plan to destroy all the Crosses once and for all, letting the noughts lead in their place.
Sephy and Callum want to stay friends forever, and never ever leave each other. But they never knew that the relationship and hate between the noughts and Crosses were this bad.
As they slowly came out from their dreams and came out into the reality, they slowly grew apart without noticing it, before becoming closer again and then apart, the process never ending. Will they fight against the reality, and stay close forever, as they once thought they could? Or will they accept their reality, the reality that noughts and Crosses just don't get along, and grow distant?
